After suffering recent back-to-back defeats away at Nottingham Forest and Norwich City respectively, Hull City will no doubt be relishing their return to their KCOM Stadium for this Saturday’s clash against a QPR outfit who are in free-fall mode.
Hull had won their last two matches at the KCOM with wins over Millwall and Birmingham City, while their form overall at home has been pretty impressive of late as The Tigers have won seven of their last eight home matches in the Championship.
This impressive eight-match sequence have seen Nigel Adkins’s side rack up a total of 22 goals for and concede just 5 in reply, and they’ll be desperate to return to winning ways here in order to keep their slim hopes of a play-off place alive.
As it stands, Hull City are in 13th place and six points adrift of 6th placed Derby County, but Derby have been wobbling in recent weeks and Hull may well sense an opportunity to reduce the points deficit with all three points against QPR on Saturday.
Forwards Bowen (19 goals) and Campbell (11 goals) have benefitted from the guile and creativity of Grosicki (5 goals) up front, and they could cause QPR a few headaches here.
QPR stumbled to a ninth defeat in 11 matches in the Championship during the week when they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to strugglers, Rotherham United at Loftus Road which handed Rotherham their first away win of the season.
Rangers manager, Steve McClaren, must be pulling what little of his hair he has left as he just can’t get his side to get a win under their belts, although they somehow registered a 1-0 home win against promotion contenders Leeds United last month.
That aside, The R’s have been absolutely woeful in recent weeks and in particular, away from home where they’ve lost their last five matches on the trot with losses incurred at Sheffield United, Wigan Athletic, Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Brentford.
QPR’s away record now includes 10 defeats on their travels along with conceding 2 goals or more in 10 of their 18 away matches to date along with failing to score in 7 of these 18 matches as well.
While Hull City can’t buy a win on the road, The Tigers should have too much for an out of sorts and de-motivated QPR outfit at their KCOM Stadium.
