Chelsea take a two-match unbeaten run into their Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

The Blues have suddenly found form after losing the Carabao Cup Final. Maurizio Sarri’s team has recorded Premier League wins over Tottenham and Fulham posting a 4-1 combined scoreline. The Blues also gained a 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev in their Europa League last-16 first leg match in midweek.

Wolverhampton Wanderers sit just behind Chelsea in the table. However, the teams are separated by 13 points and it is unlikely Wolves will overtake their rivals. However, Wolves could still make the Europa League via finishing seventh or winning the FA Cup.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been good against the top six teams this term. They have obtained eight points from a possible 24 points so far. Three of those eight points came against Chelsea earlier this term as Wolves came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at home. Santo’s side is unbeaten in six of their last seven Premier League games. They have outscored opponents 14-7 during that time span.

Although Chelsea have won back to back Premier League fixtures, it has come on the back of inconsistency. Since January 1st, the Blues have played eight games with four ending in wins, three in losses and one draw. Their inconsistent run has also seen the Blues outscored 11-14 by opponents.

Wolves will have had a full week off before Sunday’s fixture kicks off. The in-form Blues could be affected by their short turnaround.

Sarri’s team has posted the fourth best points total at home this term (31) and have won their last three games at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have allowed just nine goals at home which is the league’s second fewest total. Wolves have not won at Stamford Bridge in any of their last five trips to West London. Chelsea have outscored Wolves 21-2 during that winning run. Fans should expect goals as only one of the teams’ last 11 meetings have ended in under 1.5 goals.

Chelsea are still only two points back for the top four. It is an exciting race for the Champions League places, and a win could see the Blues leapfrog Manchester United and Arsenal, if results go their way elsewhere. January signing Gonzalo Higuain has hit the ground running with three goals in five league appearances. Meanwhile, Eden Hazard has 12 goals and 11 assists.

The Blues have everything to win and everything to lose against Wolves. With nine games left to play, they cannot afford to drop points. An inspired Chelsea will win on Sunday with over 1.5 goals going into the back of the net.
