Rodgers Hopes for First Win

    Rodgers Hopes for First Win

The latest managerial changes in the Premier League saw Brendan Rodgers take over from Claude Puel at Leicester City and Scott Parker take the reigns at Fulham following the departure of Claudio Ranieri.

The teams meet on Saturday at the King Power Stadium in what is a very important match for both teams but for different reasons.  Leicester City need to win if they want to move closer to the top half of the table and victory is a must for Fulham if they want to keep in touch with the teams above them in the relegation battle.

Rodgers took control of the team for the first time last weekend but could not prevent Leicester City from losing 2-1 at Watford. The Foxes looked set to pick up what would have been a decent point at Vicarage Road but could not hold on and conceded an injury time winner.

That result means Leicester City have won only one of their last nine games in all competitions and one of their last eight in the Premier League.  Trends show they have had no problem scoring goals but keeping them out at the other end has been a problem, with both teams scoring in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions.

Home form has been poor and Leicester City have lost four of their last five games at the King Power Stadium, with defeats coming against Cardiff City, Southampton, Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

Fulham are in desperate trouble in the relegation zone and find themselves 10 points off safety heading into the weekend.

Their form has been awful and trends show the Cottagers have won only three of their last twenty-six matches in the Premier League.  They have lost each of their last five league matches, with three of those defeats coming away from home at Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Southampton.

Fulham have failed to win a single game away from home in the Premier League this season, picking up just two draws which came at Brighton back in September and Newcastle United in December.

Fulham have conceded 2 or more goals in each of their last five away Premier League matches and trends show they have lost their last three by a 2 goal margin.

Team news and Leicester City are without Marc Albrighton and Daniel Amartey, with the former out for the rest of the season and Amartey until late March.  Jamie Vardy will be assessed before the game due to a head injury.

Fulham could have Andre Schurrle back in contention following a virus but Alfie Mawson and Marcus Bettinelli remain on the side-lines and may not return to playing again this season.

Leicester City will be desperate to get the first win of Rodgers’ managerial reign and could not have asked for a better opponent.  Parker will be hoping to have a positive impact on his team but Fulham have been so poor on the road, a home win is the most likely result.
