Struggling Cardiff Travel to Wolves

    Struggling Cardiff Travel to Wolves

It has been a tough season for Cardiff City for different reasons and on Saturday afternoon they have another difficult assignment as they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Wolves find themselves in 7th place, level on points with Watford and 4 points clear of Everton who are in 9th place. Wolves job for the remainder of the season is to cling on to that 7th spot.  Cardiff City start the weekend in the relegation zone and need every point they can get as they battle the drop.

Wolves will hope to return to winning ways this weekend following a disappointing 1-0 defeat at bottom of the table Huddersfield Town in mid-week.  It was a poor performance from Wolves and they will be keen to make up for it in this match.

The loss at Huddersfield was the first suffered by Wolves in their last nine games in all competitions.  Trends show they are undefeated in their last five home matches, winning four and drawing the most recent, which was against Newcastle United.

The four wins came against Leicester City and West Ham United in the Premier League and Liverpool and Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.

Wolves have struggled to keep clean sheets at home in recent Premier League games and have conceded in eight of their last eleven.  Six of those eight games where they have conceded, Wolves have allowed 2 or more goals and need to tighten up at the back.

Cardiff City were on the end of another comprehensive defeat on Tuesday night as they went down 3-0 to Everton at home. Having enjoyed a short run of two straight wins in the Premier League over Bournemouth and Southampton, Cardiff City have been brought back down to earth with the loss against Everton and a heavy 5-1 defeat at home against Watford.

Away form is poor and trend show Cardiff City have won only two of their last fourteen away games in all competitions.  The Bluebirds have lost nine of their last twelve on the road in all competitions and have kept just two clean sheets across those twelve matches.

Team news and Wolves have every player fit and available.  Nuno Espírito Santo may opt to make a couple of changes following the defeat at Huddersfield but nothing major.

Cardiff City have doubts over Joe Ralls, Víctor Camarasa, Matthew Connolly and Jazz Richards.  Neil Warnock will hope to sort out the situation involving Camarasa as he has been a key player for Cardiff City this season.

Wolves will want to bounce back from their mid-week defeat and should have little problem in doing so against a struggling Cardiff City.  It would be a shock not to see the home team score at least 2 goals in this game on their way to victory.
