On Friday night, two of La Liga’s strugglers Rayo Vallecano and Girona meet at the Estadio de Vallecas, as the home side attempt to move out of the relegation zone.

Rayo’s recent form in the Spanish top-flight has been poor, as the home side has lost their last four La Liga matches. Last time out, they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Getafe, which saw Rayo’s defensive problems continue, as they have now conceded at least two goals in three of their last four matches in La Liga.

Their recent matches in the Spanish top-flight have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven league matches.

A poor recent home record in La Liga has not helped Rayo’s chances of avoiding relegation this season either. The home side has failed to win in their last three league matches on home soil while suffering successive home defeats against Leganes and Atletico Madrid.

Their recent home games have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five La Liga games at the Vallecas.

Girona are just five points clear of Rayo Vallecano in 15th position in La Liga. A defeat in this clash could see the visitors sucked into the relegation battle.

The visitor’s recent league form has been poor, as Eusebio Sacristan’s team have won just one of their last 12 games in La Liga. However, Girona have picked up four points from their last two league games, so there are signs that things are moving in the right direction.

Their main problem of late in La Liga has been scoring goals, as they have failed to score in four of their last five matches in the Spanish top-flight. Girona have been poor on their travels of late losing four of their last six away games in La Liga. However, a superb 2-1 win at European champions Real Madrid ended a five-game run without an away victory.

Forebet predicts that this game will end in a low scoring draw, which would do very little for the home side’s chances of beating the drop.
