There are several Ligue 1 games to look forward to in France on Sunday 17th February, one of which is the clash between St Etienne and Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

St Etienne will be hoping to push for a Champions League qualifying place this season and a win in this game would be a huge boost in that regard.  PSG have the title all but won but will want to keep their momentum going with a win.

The hosts come into this game having picked up a 2-1 win over Strasbourg in Ligue One on Wednesday night.  This was an important match for St Etienne as it was their game in hand on the teams above them in the table and they needed to get back to winning ways.

Trends show Saint-Étienne failed to win any of their previous three games, losing at home to Lyon and away to Rennes plus picking up a point in a 1-1 draw at Nantes. However, they are strong at home and St Etienne have won five of their last six home matches in Ligue 1 and have lost just three of their last twenty-three at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

St Etienne have scored at least once in each of their last ten home Ligue One games but both teams have scored in six of them, including each of the last three.

Paris St. Germain will be feeling good about themselves following their 2-0 win at Manchester United in the Champions League. It was a good tactical display but they must get their minds back on the task at hand domestically and cannot afford to become complacent.

Statistics show they should have little to worry about as PSG have lost only two of their last twenty-five competitive games this season.  However, things have not always gone their way when asked to travel in Ligue 1 and PSG have won only one of their last four away matches, which was 3-0 at Amiens on the 12th January.

PSG have lost at Lyon and been held to a draw at both Bordeaux and Strasbourg.  Nonetheless, PSG continue to score goals and have scored in each of their last ten away Ligue 1 games, netting two or more in eight of those matches.

Looking ahead to the team news and St Etienne should have every player fit and available meaning they will be at full strength for this game.

PSG will be without the suspended Marco Verratti which will be a big miss for them plus Thomas Meunier, Edinson Cavani and Neymar are injured.

PSG have some key players missing and have not been at their best away from home in Ligue 1 recently but they are riding high off the win at Old Trafford.  Trends show St Etienne have failed to defeat PSG in their last twelve Ligue 1 meetings and we could see any away win, with both teams scoring.
