Bournemouth Aim to Build on Double Success at Cardiff

Bournemouth Aim to Build on Double Success at Cardiff

The late kick-off in the Premier League on Saturday sees Bournemouth travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City.

The hosts start the weekend in 18th place, which is the final position in the relegation zone.  If Cardiff City win the match, they cannot move out of the relegation zone but could close the gap on the teams above them to 1 point.

Bournemouth are in 10th place and could move up to 7th place, which is great motivation for them ahead of this game.

Cardiff City lost 2-1 at Arsenal on Tuesday night in very testing circumstances. The players and staff at the club are still coming to terms with the awful news about their new signing, Emiliano Sala and this will be a tough first match at home since that dreadful day.

The Bluebirds will be hoping they can provide some cheer to the home support but recent form has been poor.  Trends show Cardiff City have won only one of their last nine matches in all competitions, with their last win coming back in December at Leicester City.

They have lost four of their last five games in all competitions and have failed to score a goal in four of their last six matches in the Premier League.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in nine of Cardiff City’s last twelve home games in all competitions but they have failed to score in each of their last two home Premier League matches.

Bournemouth will arrive at the Cardiff City Stadium full of confidence having claimed all 3 points in a fantastic 4-0 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night. It was their best performance of the season to date and having gone in 0-0 at half-time, Bournemouth were tremendous in the second half.

That was the second win in succession for Bournemouth who defeated West Ham United 2-0 at home in their previous Premier League match.  However, trends show the Cherries have lost each of their last seven away games in all competitions.

Bournemouth have conceded goals in each of their last seven away games and have failed to score themselves in four of the last five and three of their last four in the Premier League.

Team news and Cardiff City still have doubts over the fitness of Sean Morrison and Jazz Richards, with Bruno Manga set to continue at the back in place of the former.  Neil Warnock will hope to have Víctor Camarasa available.

Bournemouth are without striker Callum Wilson who is expected to be out for a month.  He joins Lewis Cook, Jefferson Lerma and Simon Francis on the treatment table.  David Brooks is a major doubt having gone off against Chelsea.

Bournemouth do not have a good away record but they will be bouncing following the big win over Chelsea.  Even with some injury problems, they have enough quality to win this match although Cardiff City are sure to make it a tough task.
