Bristol City v Swansea City - Match Preview

Bristol City extended their winning streak to six matches in all competitions last weekend when they registered a 2-1 home win over Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers, but this time it was in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

This was the second time in the space of two weeks that the two clubs met at Ashton Gate with the first match being a carbon copy result of 2-1 to Bristol City in the Championship, and having recorded league wins over Rotherham United, Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest ahead of this weekend, the hosts will be in confident mood.

Overall, Bristol City are unbeaten in their last 10 matches in the Championship, a run that has helped lift The Robins to within one league position and two points of the play-off pack as Lee Johnson’s side are building momentum at just the right time.

The Robins are also unbeaten in their last five matches at Ashton Gate amidst an overall record of  W5 D5 L4, scored 16 goals and conceded 14 while forwards Diedhiou (8 goals) and Weimann (5 goals) are the hosts best chances of scoring here.

Incidentally, both teams have scored in 8 of Bristol City’s 14 home matches to date, with Bristol City keeping just 3 clean sheets so far this season.

Swansea City extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions during the week when they drew 3-3 with Birmingham City thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from striker McBurnie (13 goals) which was a timely boost ahead of their difficult trip to Bristol City this Saturday.

Within this impressive seven-match unbeaten sequence are Championship wins against Reading, Aston Villa and Sheffield United, while on the roads, The Swans have picked up four points from their last two matches on the their travels thanks to a 4-1 win at Reading and a 1-1 draw at Preston North End.

Swansea City’s away record reads  W5 D4 L5, scored 17 goals and conceded 15, with the visitors keeping 4 clean sheets to date. They haver also seen both teams score in 8 of their 14 away matches which includes both teams scoring in their last five away matches on the trot.

Highly rated winger James may be absent after a proposed loan move to Leeds United fell through at the last minute but forwards McBurnie (13 goals) and Celina (4 goals) look set to start up front again for the visitors.

Bristol City might just edge this one, but both teams scoring looks on the cards here.
