Liverpool sit atop the Premier League and are the only team not to taste defeat this season. The Reds have collected 45 of 51 points possible.

Despite Liverpool’s fantastic form, they have a number of injuries mounting up. Trent Alexander-Arnold is suffering from a foot injury and remains sidelined with defenders Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. James Milner is set to return on Friday night at the Molineaux. He could take Nathaniel Clyne’s place at right-back after the defender played well in his return against Manchester United. The good news for manager Jurgen Klopp is that no new injuries occurred against the Red Devils.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are up to seventh after three straight wins. One of those victories came against Chelsea at Molineaux. Wolves’ 2-1 win came as a shock, but it should give Liverpool some fright that the Midlands club could do the same again. Nuno Espirito Santo has seen his team secure 14 of 27 points possible at home.

Wolves are just +1 in goal difference. Wolves have lost three matches and won three games in their last six home league fixtures. The team has won two consecutive games at Molineaux by a 4-1 scoreline.

Liverpool have won their last six matches in the Premier League and continue to find ways to defeat teams. So far, Liverpool have managed to navigate the tricky waters of December, but games against Arsenal and Manchester City are to come after Christmas. The Reds will play Wolves once more in January in the FA Cup third round. The FA Cup was the site of the teams’ last meeting in January 2017. It was a game that ended in a Wolves’ 2-1 win.

The last six games between Wolverhampton and Liverpool have resulted in just two wins for Santo’s team. Liverpool have been victorious four times with those previous meetings stretching all the way back to 2010. Wolves’ time in the Championship prevented the two sides from meeting in recent seasons outside of the FA Cup.

Goals should be expected as both teams have strong attacks. Wolves have seen over 2.5 goals scored in their last five matches against Liverpool in all competitions. Liverpool have tallied three or more goals in each of their last three away games. The Reds have collected 23 of a possible 27 away points, while posting a +14-goal difference.

Friday night’s game will see Liverpool win again in the Premier League. Both clubs will get on the scoreboard with goals and the fixture will once again finish with over 2.5 goals scored.
