Leicester Hope to Continue Unbeaten Run at Craven Cottage

Leicester Hope to Continue Unbeaten Run at Craven Cottage

Life under new manager Claudio Ranieri will continue for Fulham this week as they entertain Leicester City at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.

This is a big game for both teams and Fulham know a win could not just lift them off the bottom of the table but also out of the relegation zone if other results go their way.

Leicester City are sitting pretty inside the top half of the Premier League.  They have 21 points from fourteen games, which is 13 points more than their opponents and a win could see them move as high as 6th in the table on Wednesday night.

Fulham made a great start under Ranieri as they defeated Southampton 3-2 at home in the Italian’s first game in charge of the club. However, they faced a tough task on the weekend as they travelled to Stamford Bridge and lost 2-0 to Chelsea.

Fulham were in the game for a long time against Chelsea and will believe they have enough about them to beat Leicester at home.  However, trends show Fulham have lost eight of their last nine games in all competitions and have won only one of their last eleven Premier League matches.

Fulham have won one of their last four home Premier League matches but that was their most recent game against Southampton.  They have yet to keep a clean sheet at home this season and have conceded 2 or more goals in five of their six games.

Leicester continued their unbeaten run by defeating Watford 2-0 at home on the weekend. It was their first win in four but the Foxes have proved tough to beat, drawing each of their three games prior to that win, including a penalty shoot-out success in the League Cup.

Trends show Leicester have been in good form defensively and they have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five matches in all competitions.  They have also scored at least one goal in each of their last eight away Premier League games which suggests they are beginning to strike a good balance between defence and attack.

However, Leicester have failed to score more than a single goal in each of their last three away games in the Premier League.

Team news and Andre Schurrle faces a race against time to be fit having missed the match on the weekend through injury.  Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is back in training and could feature but Kevin McDonald is likely to miss out.

Leicester travel to Craven Cottage without Matty James and Daniel Amartey who are both long-term absentees.  Harry Maguire and Rachid Ghezzal are doubtful but Claude Puel will not want to make many changes to the team which defeated Watford on the weekend.

Fulham appear to have found a spark under Ranieri but Leicester have been tough to beat in recent weeks.  The home team will push for the win but this could play into Leicester’s hands and the Foxes could come away with a narrow one goal win.
