Everton to remain undefeated against Huddersfield

Everton host Hudderfield at Goodison Park on Saturday. The Toffees are flying high headed into the fixture having taken five points from nine. Marco Silva’s team has not been shy in front of goal as Everton average two goals per Premier League game. Everton’s defence has been lacklustre at times as two of the team’s three matches have seen more than 3.5 goals. Twice this season – against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth – Everton's defence gave up second half goals which resulted in draws.

Huddersfield, on the other hand, have got off to a nightmare start in the Premier League. David Wagner’s side has collected just one point from nine. The team currently sits second bottom and has given up the most goals so far this term.

The good news for Huddersfield going into Saturday’s fixture is the suspension of Everton winger Richarlison. The Brazlian leads Everton with three goals this season. However, his straight red card last week will mean Everton must find a way to score goals without him for the next three matches. Despite Richarlison’s suspension, Everton have received brilliant play from right wing Theo Walcott. The former Arsenal man has two goals and an assist this term. Meanwhile, striker Cenk Tosun might not be scoring goals, but he has at least created them. The forward has two assists. If he can start scoring in front of goal, Everton could have one of the better three-man forward lines in the Premier League.

Everton are facing an injury crisis prior to kickoff. Michael Keane is out with a hairline skull fracture. His injury will create a hole in the back of the Everton defence. Summer signing Andre Gomes is out with a thigh injury. Phil Jagielka, and Yerry Mina will also miss the fixture due to injuries.

Huddersfield have played difficult competition. The Terriers were torn apart by Manchester City and Chelsea in consecutive weeks prior to last weekend’s nil-nil draw with Cardiff. Creative midfielder Aaron Mooy has done little in two matches. He could still be suffering from appearing at the World Cup over the summer. Striker Steve Mounie has tallied Huddersfield’s lone goal. It is safe to say the Terriers will fight relegation this term.

Everton and Huddersfield have met just twice in the Premier League previously. Those meetings came last season. Everton won both matches by 2-0 scorelines. Everton have not been shy in front of goal over the course of their last four matches. The Toffees have tallied more than 2.5 goals in four games dating back to last term.

Despite the injuries Silva is facing, Everton will pick up all three points. The squad is still overall better than Wagner’s Huddersfield. The Toffees will move to eight points from 12.
