AC Milan host Roma on Friday night in a clash of two of Italy’s biggest clubs. Roma have started the season well obtaining four points from a possible six. The Giallorossi will have just a few days to recoup for the big fixture as they played on Monday night against Atalanta.

The two teams put on a pulsating match at the Stadio Olimpico as Roma came back to earn a hard fought 3-3 draw. Milan have played just once as their week 1 match was postponed due to an unforeseen tragedy in Genoa. The Rossoneri lost to Napoli, 3-2, in what turned out to be their first match.

Roma sporting director Monchi has bought and sold players frequently during the transfer window. Roma made 11 signings during the transfer window while moving nine players out of the club. Manager Eusebio Di Francesco has practically a brand-new squad to work with. Roma finished third in last season’s Serie A. The club will have its eyes on second as Juventus will surely win the league once more.

AC Milan have also brought in a significant number of players during the transfer window. Nine players joined the Rossoneri while far more than that figure left the club. The club’s biggest signing was Gonzalo Higuain, who was signed in a swap deal for defender Leonardo Bonucci. Milan are still smarting after being denied access to the Europa League. Still, they spent a large sum of money on players. It remains to be seen if those new players will improve them more than last term.

Roma have dominated the last six fixtures between the two Serie A rivals. The Giallorossi have won four while drawing one match in their last six fixtures against Milan. The Rossoneri’s only win against Roma came at the end of last season in a 2-0 win in February.

The win came at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma have outscored Milan 11-5 in their last six meetings. Milan players have received two red cards in those last six fixtures. Roma have won their last three matches against AC Milan at the San Siro by a combined score of 9-2.

The fixture between Milan and Roma should see goals. Both teams have given them up freely as they have allowed three goals apiece. Roma have seen summer signing Javier Pastore excel as an attacking midfielder while striker Eden Dzeko has tallied an assist and a goal.

Roma may find the back of the net yet again at the San Siro and continue their fine form against Milan. Viewers should expect goals as both team’s defences have shown some frailties early on this term.
