Relegation and Promotion on the Line in the Allsvenskan

Relegation and Promotion on the Line in the Allsvenskan

There is a full round of Swedish Allsvenskan fixtures to enjoy this weekend but arguably the most intriguing is the final match.  Trelleborgs and Hammarby meet on Monday night in a game which will have an impact on both the top and bottom of the league.

Trelleborgs started the weekend in 13th place, just 1 point clear of the relegation playoff place and 2 points clear of the automatic relegation zone.

Hammarby have the top of the table on their mind and they start the weekend just 3 points behind leaders AIK. Hammarby also have a game in hand on the team above them so a win in this game is crucial if they want to challenge for the title.

Trelleborgs have been in poor form recently and trends show they have won just one of their last six league games.  This has seen them sucked into the relegation battle and a failure to win any of their last four league games has been costly.

Since defeating Brommapojkarna 2-1 at home on the 24th May, Trelleborgs have drawn two and lost two league games.  There was a heavy 4-1 loss at home to AIK and two away defeats at Elfsborg and Ostersunds.  The draw came in an entertaining 2-2 game at Dalkurd.

Trends show Trelleborgs have lost five of their last seven home matches in the Allsvenskan and both teams have scored in each of their last six.

Hammarby make the trip to Vangavallen having defeated Dalkurd 4-1 at home in their previous league game.  That was an important win for Hammarby as they were in danger of losing momentum following a 2-1 defeat at home to Ostersunds and a 0-0 draw at Elfsborg.

Away from home, Hammarby have been very tough to beat in the league.  They have remained undefeated in their last seven away Allsvenskan games, picking up four wins and three draws.  Their recent away form has been superior to their home form and Hammarby will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten record.

Trends show both teams have scored in fourteen of Hammarby’s last seventeen Allsvenskan matches and we could be in for a thrilling night of football as there have also been over 2.5 goals in each of those fourteen games.

Team news and Trelleborgs will be without Oscar Johansson and Mattias Hakansson due to injury, with the latter expected to be out for the whole season.  Trelleborgs also have a doubt over the fitness of Salif Jonsson.

Hammarby are waiting on the fitness news of Erkan Zengin who returned to training following a meniscus injury.  Mads Fenger and Simon Sandberg are expected to miss the game with injury.

Both Trelleborgs and Hammarby have been involved in many high scoring matches recently.  However, Hammarby’s away form must make them the favourites to take maximum points from this game and we could see an away win with over 2.5 goals scored.
