On Saturday night, Seattle Sounders host Vancouver Whitecaps at the CenturyLink Field in the Western Conference of MLS.
Seattle are currently tenth place in the Western Conference standings, 11 points behind the play-off spots. The home side are also nine points behind the visitors in the standings.
Seattle’s recent record in the Western Conference has not helped their chances of reaching the play-offs, as the Sounders have won just once in their last six MLS outings.
Seattle’s recent MLS games have at least offered entertainment value, with both teams scoring in six of their last seven league games.
Brian Schmetzer’s side has struggled for victories on home soil in MLS of late, winning just once in their last five matches on home soil. The Sounders have also managed only one clean sheet in their previous eight home games in MLS while failing to score in four of their last eight home games in the US top-flight.
Vancouver are somewhat better placed to mount a challenge for the play-off spots this season. The visitors are currently eighth-place in the table, just two points shy of the top six and the play-off spots.
However, the visitors have hit a poor run of form of late, suffering three defeats in their last four MLS outings, including a 3-1 loss at DC United last time out.
The Canadian side has been woeful in defence in recent league outings, conceding at least twice in four of their last five Western Conference matches. The visitor’s poor defence has led to high-scoring games, though, with nine of their previous ten games producing over 2.5 goals.
The Whitecaps form on the road in MLS has been poor, as they lost five of their previous seven games on their travels.
With neither side in particularly great form, it is no surprise that Forebet predicts that this game will finish in a high scoring draw.
