On Saturday evening New York City FC host Atlanta United, as the top two teams in the MLS Eastern Conference go head-to-head.
New York City FC currently finds themselves in second place in the Eastern Conference. A victory over the visitors would move Patrick Vieira’s side to the top of the table.
Despite their relatively lofty position in the Eastern Conference, City have been inconsistent of late in MLS, winning three, losing and drawing one of their last six outings in the US top-flight.
The home side did get back to winning ways with a 3-0 defeat of Orlando City last time out in MLS, though.
The Big Apple outfit has produced some fine entertainment of late, with their last 11 MLS games producing over 2.5 goals.
Vieira’s team have been impressive at Yankee Stadium, winning their last seven games on home turf in MLS, while keeping clean sheets in five of their last seven games. They have also scored at least two goals in their last eight home outings.
Just like the hosts, Atlanta’s recent MLS form has been inconsistent. However, Gerardo Martino’s team have a pretty impressive record of just five defeats in 32 league outings.
One of the key factors in Atlanta’s relative success in MLS is their potency in front of goal, as the visitors have scored at least two goals in 18 of their last 25 outings in the US top-flight.
The visitors form on the road in MLS has improved of late too, as United are now unbeaten in five games on their travels in MLS, having recorded four wins.
Despite their effectiveness in front of goal, five of their last eight MLS games on the road have produced under 2.5 goals.
These two teams have enjoyed strong MLS campaigns so far. However, Forebet predicts that it will be New York who will record a victory in a high scoring clash to move to the top of the table.
