Bundesliga side RB Leipzig host Italian league leaders Napoli at the Red Bull Arena on Thursday night in the Europa League last-32 second leg.
The German outfit pulled off a surprising 3-1 win in Naples in the first leg and will be confident of finishing the job in the second leg.
RB Leipzig are in the Europa League after dropping down from the Champions League. The first leg was their first game in the competition in their debut European campaign.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were strong at the Red Bull Arena last season. However, they have not been as consistent on home soil this season. The home side have been prolific on home soil of late, though, scoring two or more goals in four of their last five home games in all competitions.
Napoli also dropped down into this competition from the Champions League after enduring a nightmare campaign in Europe’s elite competition, losing four of their six group games. Winning Serie A is the visitor’s priority this season, so they may feel that exiting this competition may not be the worst thing in the world.
Unlike the hosts, the Azzurri does have some history in this competition. However, they have now failed to win in their last three games in the Europa League. Prior to that poor run of form, the men from Naples had recorded six straight wins in the competition.
The Italian side have a decent recent away record in the Europa League, winning three of their last four games on their travels in the competition. The visitor’s recent away games in the Europa League have been low scoring, with four of their last five games producing under 2.5 goals.
