Monaco Hoping for Another Nice Win

Monaco Hoping for Another Nice Win

Having met recently in the Coupe de la Ligue, Monaco and Nice lock horns again in Ligue 1 on Tuesday night, with the hosts hoping to claim another victory.

The Ligue 1 title looks like being out of reach for Monaco this season as Paris Saint-Germain continue to set the pace at the top of the table.  However, Monaco must keep trying to win games, not only in the hope PSG slip up but also to maintain their second place in the league.

Nice have been cut adrift of the European places this season and come into this match 11 points adrift of 4th place Marseille. Despite being in 6th place, they also 11 points clear of the relegation zone, so cannot afford to switch off in the second half of the season.

Trend show Monaco are undefeated in their last seven matches in all competitions and they have won six of those games.  The only match they failed to win was on the weekend when they were held to a rare 0-0 draw at Montpellier.

You must go back to February 2016 to find the last time Monaco were involved in a 0-0 draw and they do not come about very often.

At home this season, trends show Monaco have won their last three Ligue 1 games and their last four in a row including the Couple de la Ligue win over Caen.  They have lost just one of their last twenty home league matches, which was against PSG earlier this season.

Monaco have scored 2 or more goals in seventeen of their last twenty home Ligue 1 games.

Nice come into this match on the back of a 1-0 home win against Amiens on the weekend.  However, that was their first win in four matches in all competitions.

Having been held 1-1 at Lille in Ligue 1, Nice were eliminated from both the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue by Toulouse and Monaco respectively.  The loss against upcoming opponents Monaco was 2-1 at home.

Despite the defeats in the cup, Nice have been tough to beat in the league recently and trend show they have remained undefeated in their last six Ligue 1 games.  They have won five of those six league games, with wins at Toulouse and Nantes plus home wins against Metz and Bordeaux.

Away from home, Nice are undefeated in their last four league games, winning two and drawing two.

Team news and Monaco are still without winger Gabriel Boschilia but every other player should be fit and available.  Radamel Falcao may be forced to settle for a place on the bench as he makes a return to the team.

Nice will be without the injured duo of Mickael Le Bihan and Arnaud Souquet but will be close to full strength for this match.

The visitors have been tough to beat recently in Ligue 1 but this will be their biggest test away from home since their match with PSG and they lost that game 3-0.  Monaco have been in good form themselves and could win what should be a good game by a narrow margin.
