The French Coupe de la Ligue has reached the quarter-final stage and Amiens could not have asked for a more difficult task as they face the might of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

The only way this match could be any more difficult is if it was away from home and at least Amiens have the home advantage in what should be a packed Stade de la Licorne.

The home team have very little history to speak of in this competition and have never won a major honour in French football.  Paris Saint-Germain on the other hand have won this cup a record 7 times and are the favourites to add to their collection this season.

Trends show Amiens come into this match in poor form having lost each of their last three matches. There have been defeats in Ligue 1 to Troyes and Nantes plus a heavy 6-0 loss to Sochaux in the Coupe de France on Sunday.

To lose 6-0 to any team is bad enough but to do it against a team sitting 8th in Ligue 2 is almost unforgivable and Amiens owe their supporters a big performance in this match.

The problem is, Amiens have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions, losing the other five and this is not the form you want to be in before facing the might of Paris Saint-Germain.  The only good news for Amiens, is they are much better at home than away and have won three of their last five home games.

Paris Saint-Germain come into this match on the back of a 6-1 win against Rennes in the Coupe de France on the weekend. There was no messing about from Unai Emery in terms of his team selection and the club from the capital appear intent on winning every trophy possible this season.

After suffering two defeats at the start of December, Paris Saint-Germain have returned to winning ways.  They have won each of their last five matches in all competitions, defeating Lille and Caen at home and beating Strasbourg and Rennes twice on the road.

Scoring goals has been the highlight of the season so far for Paris Saint-Germain and they have netted 20 goals in their last five games at an average of 4 goals per game.  The Paris Saint-Germain fans will be hoping for more of the same in this match.

Team news and Amiens will be without forward Quentin Cornette who is out with a fracture of the fibula until March.  Every other player should be available for Christophe Pelissier who will need to field their strongest XI to have any chance.

Paris Saint-Germain come into this match with the luxury of a fully fit squad and Unai Emery will rotate some of his players from the weekend win.  The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar may be given a rest in this match.

However, such is the depth of talent in the Paris Saint-Germain squad, whoever Emery picks they should have more than enough to win this match by at least 2 goals and move into the semi-final.
