Newcastle return to the Premier League on Sunday lunchtime after a one-year stint in the Championship, as the Magpies host Tottenham at St James Park.

The north east club have struggled to bring in any real quality players this summer and boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly unhappy with the clubs transfer dealings so far.

However, despite that slight pessimism, the home side head into this clash on the back of winning the Championship. The Magpies record in the Premier League in their last stint was not too shabby either.

Although relegated from the Premier League in their last stint, the Magpies are actually six games unbeaten in the English top-flight, recording three wins and three draws.

Benitez’s team are also five games unbeaten at home in the Premier League. Ironically, their last game in the top-flight was a 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham at St James Park. It seems highly doubtful that there will be a repeat of that result this time around.

Tottenham have endured a similar frustration to the hosts in the transfer market, as the visitors have yet to make a signing this summer.

However, the team from north London will be confident that they have enough quality already within their ranks to enjoy another successful campaign in the Premier League this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team have experienced a mixed pre-season campaign but finished last season in a very strong manner. In fact, the visitors recorded nine wins in their last ten games in the Premier League.

Spurs have also claimed five wins from their last six games on their travels in the English top-flight. Pochettino and his team will be looking to continue that fine run of form in the north east this weekend.

Forebet predicts that the visitors will exact revenge on the home team for that heavy defeat on their last visit to St James and start their league campaign with a victory.
