Wolves to hold the Terriers at Molineux

Wolves to hold the Terriers at Molineux

On Tuesday night Huddersfield Town have the chance to seal a place in the Championship play-offs, as the Terriers travel to the Midlands to face Wolves at Molineux.

Huddersfield have slipped to fifth-place in the Championship table after a poor run of form in the second tier. However, a win would guarantee David Wagner’s team a play-off spot for this season, which earlier in the campaign looked like the minimum they could achieve this season.

A run of just two wins in seven Championship games has seen Huddersfield slip out of the automatic promotion race. Wagner’s team have failed to win any of their last three away games in the Championship, suffering two defeats and drawing once.

The visitors have a good record against Wolves, though, having recorded wins in nine of the last 11 meetings with the side from the Midlands.

Wolves currently have very little to play for but pride, as they sit 15th in the Championship table and ten points clear of the relegation zone. Paul Lambert’s side have not been in the best of form of late, but have lost just two of their last ten outings in the second tier.

Wolves have also lost just one of their last five home games in the Championship, recording three wins in the process. Their home games have been low-scoring of late in the Championship, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five home outings.

Having been promotion contenders for so long Huddersfield will be desperate to now just get into the play-offs. However, they may have to wait another game at least to seal their play-off spot, as Wolves are no pushovers and could grind out a draw in this clash.
