In-form Leicester to add to Sunderland’s misery

In-form Leicester to add to Sunderland’s misery

Leicester City have looked like a different team since replacing title-winning boss Claudio Ranieri with his former assistant Craig Shakespeare. Since Shakespeare’s appointment, the Foxes have won all five of their games, including their last four games in the Premier League.

On Tuesday night the reigning champions host rock-bottom Sunderland at the King Power Stadium. The game represents the perfect chance for the side from the Midlands to extend that winning run in the league to five games and move further clear of the relegation zone.

The Foxes are incredibly just one point outside the top-ten of the Premier League. A win in this game could actually see the champions move into the top half of the table. Despite the good run of form, the home side are still just six points clear of the drop zone, though.

One of the most impressive aspects of Leicester’s play of late has been their eye for goal. The champions have scored two or more goals in all five of their consecutive victories.

England striker Jamie Vardy has also rediscovered his scoring touch of late, scoring four goals in his last four top-flight appearances for the Foxes.

The visitors have been the masters of the great escape from relegation in recent years. However, following a 1-0 defeat at Watford last time out, the Black Cats now find themselves seven points from safety.

One win in their last 12 Premier League outings have left David Moyes’ side marooned at the bottom of the table. The visitors have suffered defeat in four of their last five games and to make matters worse have also failed to score in seven of their last eight league outings.

Leicester look to have hit form at the right time and another win could all but secure their Premier League status after an almighty scare earlier in the season.
