Fiorentina travel to the Stadio Adriatico-Giovanni on Wednesday in a league clash that is important to both teams for different reasons.
Pescara have arguably been the worst side in the Serie A this season and will be hoping to get something against a relatively strong Fiorentina side to start redeeming their season and maybe avoid relegation, which is a valid concern for them. They currently sit bottom on Serie A rankings and are currently going through a horrible run of form.
They have only won one game this season, drawing six and losing fourteen in the matches they have played so far this season; it is not looking good for them at all. Their last match ended in a 3-0 defeat for them at the hands of Internazionale, and they have conceded forty-two goals while scoring just sixteen.
Fiorentina are having an average season by their standards. They currently occupy the eighth position on the league table and have won nine games, drawn seven and lost five of their league games this season. They have scored thirty-six goals and conceded twenty-eight. They are not exactly having an excellent season but they are by no means a write-off yet as they are just six points from European places, and a win at Pescara will go a long way in turning their season around and possibly securing a European spot for next season.
Fiorentina are heavy favourites for this one, and it is hard to see Pescara even getting a draw, let alone winning the fixture. On head to head basis, Fiorentina surprisingly doesn’t have much of an edge over Pescara; of their four meetings, Pescara have won one, Fiorentina also won one, and they drew two.
Their last meeting ended in a 5-1 win for Fiorentina, and Pescara have even gotten worse since then. Pescara will try and do their utmost best to get at least a draw from the fixture, but it is hard to see past a Fiorentina win in this one, maybe with a lot of goals too.
