Sheffield Wednesday and Shrewsbury Town will do battle in League One this weekend as the World Cup gets underway halfway across the world with the Yorkshire side still flying high and aiming to get into the top two before the end of the year.

Wednesday are heading into this game off the back of some very promising form too. Darren Moore's men only narrowly lost in the EFL Cup last midweek, as Southampton of the Premier League beat them 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes and regular time.

However, by smashing Burton Albion in League One just prior to this and Accrington Stanley just after that result, Moore's men are still in very positive form after also beating Morecambe with ease in the FA Cup.

This excellent run of form from Wednesday does mean they have not tasted a defeat in regular time since losing to title rivals Plymouth Argyle. A 3-0 win over Cheltenham and a 2-0 victory over Cambridge United shortly after threw them back towards the top two.

Wednesday have also drawn with Lincoln City and Bristol Rovers and defeated Leicester City U21s in the Football League Trophy in this unbeaten run.

The club are now up into third in the table with just three losses on the board. What's more, no side has let in fewer goals than Wednesday this season in League One, besides Barnsley and Bolton who are out playoff spots.

Moore's men have let in 16 goals, scoring 34 of their own. With 11 victories, however, they are still six five points behind Plymouth at the top of the table and just one behind Ipswich Town in second.

As for Shrewsbury, it's been another struggle for them so far this season as they sit 14th. Steve Cotterill's men have managed to beat York City in the FA Cup 1st round in recent weeks, and by also drawing with promotion candidates, Portsmouth, there is a bit to shout about.

Nevertheless, they have conceded 20 goals already and scored just 17 of their own as well as losing seven of the 18 League One matches already.

They do still sit a healthy nine points above the relegation zone, however, which will give fans a bit of confidence heading towards the end of the year.

Forebet precincts another win for Sheffield Wednesday and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
