In one of the biggest games of the Premier League weekend, bottom two Swansea and Sunderland clash at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The home side were leapfrogged by Sunderland last weekend and currently find themselves bottom of the top-flight table. The Swans recent form has been awful and the arrival of former USA boss Bob Bradley has done little to arrest the teams alarming slump.
The former Stabaek boss has won just one of his seven games in charge of the Swans, in a rather unconvincing start to life in south Wales for the team’s American boss. The home side have recorded just one win in their last 13 league outings.
A few weeks ago this game may have been considered a far easier one than now. Things have now changed dramatically for the Black Cats.
That is because David Moyes’s Sunderland have won three of their last four games in the Premier League, with the only exception being a defeat at high-flying Liverpool. In their last game, the north east side dispatched champions Leicester 2-1.
Moyes side will certainly be confident of another victory at the Liberty Stadium. The visitors have scored two or more goals in each of those three wins, so will fancy their chances against a Swansea defence that has conceded the most goals in the top-flight.
One ray of hope for the home side is that Sunderland have won just four of their last 26 away games in the Premier League. They have also suffered four defeats from their last five away games in the top-flight.
An interesting fact is that five out of the last eight games between these two teams in the top-flight have finished in draws.
In truth, this game could well end in a draw. However, as Sunderland have their tails up they are more than capable of leaving south Wales with maximum points on Saturday afternoon.
