Burnley v Hull an early relegation six-pointer

Burnley v Hull an early relegation six-pointer

Two of the Premier League new boys meet this weekend at Turf Moor, as Burnley hosts Hull in a game that could be a six-pointer.

Usually, games that come so early in the campaign are not labelled as ‘six pointers’, but this game could determine how the rest of the season goes for these two clubs.

Although it is unlikely to decide who ends up relegated at the end of the season it is a massive game in terms of momentum for both teams. Without a doubt, both teams priority this season was to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

The visitors hit the ground running in the top-flight with consecutive Premier League wins over Leicester and Swansea, before suffering a rather unfortunate 1-0 defeat against Manchester United prior to the international break.

Everybody associated with the Tigers will be delighted with their start to life back in the Premier League, but seasons can turn in an instant and defeat at Burnley could turn things around completely.

The Clarets have started the campaign with one win and two defeats, but if Sean Dyche’s side defeat the Tigers then the two teams will be level on points and in the same boat.

The side from Lancashire broke their transfer record twice in the summer bringing in Belgian midfielder Steven Defour and energetic Irish midfielder Jeff Hendrick. No doubt the pair will add quality to the heart of the Clarets midfield.

Hull was highly active on deadline day by also breaking their transfer record by bringing in midfielder Ryan Mason from Tottenham. The likes of Will Keane and Dieumerci Mbokani also joined the Tigers and the former could face his brother Michael of Burnley this weekend.

It may be early in the season, but this clash could be a highly relevant one come the end of the season when the relegation places are decided.
