Fantasy Premier League returned with a bang last weekend as Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham all secured high-scoring victories.

Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah picked up 20 and 17 points, respectively, while Paul Pogba, Marcos Alonso, and Michail Antonio also scored big.

Before we get stuck into the top FPL picks for Gameweek 2, let’s take a look at this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

    • Liverpool vs. Burnley

    • Aston Villa vs. Newcastle

    • Crystal Palace vs. Brentford

    • Leeds vs. Everton

    • Manchester City vs. Norwich

    • Brighton vs. Watford

    • Southampton vs. Manchester United

    • Wolves vs. Tottenham

    • Arsenal vs. Chelsea

    • West Ham vs. Leicester

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their loss to Tottenham when they welcome newly-promoted Norwich to the Etihad.

Liverpool and Manchester United will be confident of sealing another big win, coming up against Burnley and Southampton, respectively.

Of course, we are only one Gameweek into the new season. But if you want to think with your team, here are the top FPL picks for Gameweek 2.

    Goalkeepers

Five goalkeepers kept a clean sheet in the previous round – David Raya (Brentford), Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), Alisson (Liverpool) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham).

With low-scoring Burnley up next for Liverpool, Alisson (Liverpool) stands the best chance of starting the season with back-to-back clean sheets.

Ederson (Manchester City) will be confident of achieving a shutout this weekend, too, with newly-promoted Norwich visiting the Etihad.

    Defenders

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) and Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea) both scored and kept a clean sheet last weekend, while Ricardo Pereira (Leicester) notched a shutout and an assist.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Kostas Tsimikas (Liverpool) look set to pick up both defensive and attacking points against Burnley, as does Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool).

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford), Pontus Jansson (Brentford) and Kristoffer Ajer (Brenford) are cheap options. Having kept a clean sheet against Arsenal, the Bees could easily prevent Crystal Palace from scoring.

    Midfielders

Paul Pogba (Manchester United) chalked up four assists on the opening weekend, while Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) netted a hat-trick.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) also starred last time out, accumalting one goal and two assists in the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Norwich.

Said Benrahma (West Ham) looks like a solid budget option, having both scored and assisted in the Hammers’ 4-2 thrashing of Newcastle.

    Forwards

Richarlison (Everton), Michail Antonio (West Ham), and Emmanuel Dennis (Watford) each picked up one goal and one assist in Gameweek 1.

There were also goals for Neal Maupay (Brighton), Callum Wilson (Newcastle), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Roberto Firmino (Liverpool), Danny Ings (Aston Villa), Adam Armstrong (Southampton) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton).

Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) could open his account this weekend, especially if the Norwich defence is as generous as it was against Liverpool.
