Real Madrid are the early La Liga leaders, with six points from six points on offer.
Rayo Vallecano and Valencia are surprisingly second and third, respectively, with six points, too. Meanwhile, Sevilla, Granada, and Almeria are yet to win this season.
Cadiz and Almeria will play an early season relegation six-pointer. Both clubs are expected to battle for survival later this season. The clubs drew 1-1 in both La Liga meetings in 2022-23.
Almeria go into the match with zero points from two matches. A 2-0 loss at home to Rayo was followed by a 3-1 loss at home to Real Madrid.
Cadiz are coming off a 2-0 loss away to Barcelona. The Yellow Submarine’s defence played well, but the attack couldn’t score the chances when they came their way. Cadiz started the season with a 1-0 home win over Alaves.
Granada went unbeaten in their last six games versus Mallorca in all competitions. Last season, Granada won 4-1 at home against Mallorca before winning 6-2 at Mallorca.
Los Rojiblancos will be happy to see Mallorca after starting the season so poorly. Granada lost 3-1 to Atletico Madrid and 2-0 to Rayo Vallecano. Based on last season’s results, Granada will expect a good performance versus Mallorca.
The Islanders picked up one point from their opening two fixtures. A 1-1 draw away to Las Palmas was followed by a 1-0 loss to Valencia. Mallorca games have been very low scoring so far.
Sevilla have started the new season similarly to the way they began the 2022-23 season. It was only in the final third of the campaign under Jose Luis Mendilibar that Sevilla were saved from relegation a season ago. A 2-1 loss to Valencia was followed by a 4-3 defeat at Alaves.
Girona are playing well and took four points from six on offer in the opening two matches. A hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Real Sociedad was followed by a 3-0 home win over Getafe.
Girona did the league double over Sevilla in 2022-23. A 2-1 win at home was followed by a Girona win away to Sevilla by a score of 2-0.
Valencia did the La Liga double over Osasuna last term, with a 2-1 away win and a 1-0 victory at the Mestalla. Los Che are in search of a third straight win over Osasuna in La Liga.
Could Valencia have made the turn? After fighting relegation in the last few seasons, Los Che have started well this term. An opening-day win over Sevilla, 2-1, was followed by a 1-0 victory over Las Palmas.
Osasuna took three points from the opening six on offer. Los Rojillos qualified for the Conference League after a strong season in 2022-23. Playing on three fronts could see them fight relegation. Osasuna won 2-0 against Celta Vigo before losing 2-0 to Basque rival Athletic Bilbao.
