The Scottish Premiership took a turn a week ago as Celtic won the Old Firm Derby in scintillating style over Rangers. Now, Hoops are aiming to keep the gap between themselves and Rangers at one point at the very least.
Celtic are unbeaten in 14 straight matches in all competitions. On Wednesday, the Hoops are aiming for a third straight win over Aberdeen this season. Celtic claimed a 2-1 win at Pittodrie before winning 2-1 at home in the reverse fixture.
Ange Postecoglou picked up 18 points from the last 18 points available in the league. They conceded a mere two goals across their last six games. Celtic’s last three games all ended as wins to nil. Their last 16 matches with Aberdeen ended without a loss.
Aberdeen are seventh in the league and outside of the championship half of the league. They have failed to win four straight Premiership matches and took a mere five points from the last 18 points available. Aberdeen have not defeated Celtic since 2017-18.
Rangers are chasing Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table. The Blues are one point off of Celtic and could return to the top of the table with a win or draw versus Hibs. Rangers took a mere 11 points from the last 18 points possible. Hibs are winless in five straight league matches.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team is coming off of a 5-0 win over Hearts in the league. It followed the team’s embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Celtic a week ago. Rangers and Hibs have played three times this season in all competitions.
Hibs lost both Premiership matches versus Rangers. The Edinburgh club won a League Cup fixture against Rangers in November, 3-1. The cup victory is Hibs’ only win over Rangers from the last 15 matches in all competitions.
Dundee United and Motherwell are in the championship half of the table heading into Wednesday’s fixtures. The Well are fourth in the league with 33 points from 25 matches. Dundee United are sixth in the division and separated from the relegation half of the table by one point.
Neither of these teams is in form going into matchday 26. Dundee United won just one of their last six games with three straight fixtures ending without a victory. The last match between these teams at Tannadice finished 2-1 in favour of Dundee United.
Motherwell returned the favour with a win at home, 1-0, Fir Park courtesy of a goal from Anthony Watt in the opening quarter of an hour. Motherwell have failed to win four straight games in the Premiership. The last five games between these teams finished with the home claiming a result.
Hearts are on a three-match undefeated streak against Dundee. Robbie Neilson is aiming for another win against Dundee. The Edinburgh club has taken four points from six points available against Dundee thus far this season. Dundee are bottom of the Premiership table.
Neilson’s team took 10 points from the last 18 points available in the Premiership. They were –1 in goals across those six games. Hearts have scored the league’s fourth-most goals with 34. Earlier this season, Hearts and Dundee drew 1-1 at Tynecastle before Neilson’s side won 1-0 away.
Dundee are one point off of 11th place St. Johnstone. A win could take Dundee off of the foot of the table. Dundee failed to win any of their last six games in the Premiership. Dundee are winless in four straight matches versus Hearts in all competitions.
