This leaves the Naples side down in eighth with only 13 wins on the board and 40 goals let in they conceded just 28 last season.
Napoli have also lost nine games and drew the other 10 after a 2-2 draw at home against Frosinone last weekend.
Matteo Politano scored early on that day before Victor Osimhen scored in the second half. Mario Rui was sent off against Frosinone and now misses this game against Empoli.
Napoli did actually draw against Inter a few weeks ago, but they followed this up with a stunning home defeat to Atalanta where they lost 3-0.

The past month has also seen Barcelona beat Napoli in the Champions League, and with very little hopes of getting into Europe for next season, there is very little to play for in the final few games for the club.
Napoli are adrift of fourth spot by 10 points off Bologna, while the Naples side are also behind Roma in fifth by six, so there is still a slight chance they can overturn this points tally and end up in the Europa League.
As for Empoli, they are in a world of trouble of their own with a gap of just one point on Frosinone in 18th. Relegation is still well on the cards for them and things were made worse by losing away to Lecce last time out.
Within the past five games, Empoli have managed to get themselves a win by beating Torino thanks to a finish each from M'Baye Niang, Matteo Cancellieri and Nicolo Cambiaghi.
Nevertheless, they have also lost to Bologna, Inter and AC Milan in this period too.
