BSC Young Boys are set to take on Maccabi Haifa in the second leg of the Champions League playoffs with everything to play for after a draw in leg one back in Israel.

The first leg ended with a 0-0 draw in a match with very few chances and not much to take away from either side. What's more, with the away goals rule abolished in these playoff battles, Young Boys will no doubt favour themselves to get the job done here.

The Swiss side, however, had zero shots on target in leg one and failed to saw more of the ball, unlike how they tend to do in most of their games on the domestic front. They did have eight shots in total, but failed to lay a glove on the Israeli side.

As for Haifa, they controlled 60% of the hall and would hit the target four times in a game where they were much the better team, but like Young Boys, they failed to stamp their marker down on this playoff affair and trouble the Swiss side.

Back on the domestic front for Young Boys, they are four games into their Swiss Super League season and have so far gone unbeaten in the game with two wins and two draws.

The club started this run with a 5-2 win over Winterthur after having 20 shots on goal and eight on target. In fact, Young Boys led 2-0 after seven minutes and would score three more goals in the second half.

Young Boys have also drawn with Luzern and Yverdon this season alongside a victory over Lausanne with a penalty in the 97th minute.

As for Haifa, they are yet to play in their league campaign in 2023/24, as they missed the opening weekend of fixtures due to their Toto Cup Ligat Al semi-finals battle with Petach-Tikva - they won 2-0 that day with a goal each from David and Khalili.

The Israeli side have also made relatively easy work in their run to the Champions League playoffs this season by defeating Sheriff Tiraspol after 4-1 win at home following their 1-0 loss in the away leg.

Haifa also beat Slovan Bratislava over two legs after letting in a goal in both legs to now mean they have failed to keep a clean sheet across all four of their Champions League ties before the meeting with Young Boys.

Forebet predicts a draw and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
