To make matters worse, the teams just behind them are closing in on the men from Milan, with surprise package Bologna just two points shy of them and fifth-place Fiorentina just three adrift.
Milan’s recent form has not been bad, as they have won three of their last five games. However, a 2-2 draw at Salernitana last time out may have been disappointing.
However, one positive for Milan has been their home form, as they have recorded three straight wins on home soil in Serie A.
The visitors have become a thorn in the side of Milan in recent years, as the Neroverdi have won three of the last five meetings with the Rossoneri.
Alessio Dionisi’s team are in need of another good result, as Sassuolo are currently in 15th place in the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Their precarious position in the Serie A table is mainly due to a four-game winless run, as they have picked up just one draw and suffered three defeats in the poor spell of form.
A poor recent period on their travels in the Italian top flight has not helped their chances of moving away from the relegation zone, as Sassuolo has won just one of their previous five away games in Serie A.
