Burnley will be looking to upset the odds when Liverpool visit Turf Moor on Boxing Day, with 28 points separating the two sides in the Premier League table.

While Vincent Kompany’s men find themselves second from bottom in the standings, Jurgen Klopp’s team sit second – one point behind Arsenal.

Can the Reds strengthen their title bid on Tuesday? Or will the Clarets take another step in the right direction? It’s time to take a closer look at the teams.

Let’s start with the hosts, Burnley, who picked up a valuable 2-0 victory over Fulham last time out, courtesy of goals from Wilson Odobert and Sander Berge.

Kompany’s side endured a six-game losing run across October and November, suffering home defeats to Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

Since then, however, the Clarets have claimed wins against Sheffield United and Fulham, as well as a draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Still, there is no hiding the fact that Burnley have lost 13 of their 18 Premier League clashes this season, leaving them three points inside the relegation zone.

Liverpool, meanwhile, played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday, with Mohamed Salah’s 29th-minute strike cancelling out Gabriel’s early goal.

That draw extended the Reds’ unbeaten run in the Premier League to 11 matches, with six wins and five draws coming since their last loss.

It is also worth noting that Liverpool have scored at least once in each of their nine away league outings this term, averaging 1.7 goals per game on the road.

Having lost just three of their previous 38 matches across all competitions, Klopp’s men will be confident of picking up a positive result at Turf Moor.

Head-to-head: Liverpool have won each of their last three Premier League meetings with Burnley, scoring six goals while keeping three clean sheets.

On top of that, the Reds have won each of their previous five matches against the Clarets at Turf Moor, highlighting Burnley’s struggles on home soil.

Team news: Burnley forward Luca Koleosho is out with a knee injury, while Jack Cork, Aaron Ramsey and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are doubts for Tuesday.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are currently without Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Andrew Robertson, Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister and Kostas Tsimikas due to injury.

Although Burnley have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, Kompany’s men will struggle to cope with Liverpool’s attacking firepower.

Forebet predicts that Burnley and Liverpool will combine for over 2.5 goals at Turf Moor, with the visitors expected to outscore the hosts.
