Defending Serie A champions Napoli will be looking to make it three wins from three when off-form Lazio visit the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday.

Lazio find themselves in the relegation zone after failing to take a single point from their opening two matches, scoring just once in the process.

At the opposite end of the table, Napoli sit level with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Hellas Verona on six points thanks to a perfect start to the season.

Napoli kicked off their campaign with a 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Frosinone, with Victor Osimhen bagging a brace on the opening weekend.

Last time out, the reigning champions claimed a 2-1 win against Sassuolo. Once again, Osimhen found the back of the net, while Giovanni Di Lorenzo completed the scoring.

Napoli enjoyed a hugely successful 2022-23 campaign, losing just four of their 38 league matches to finish 16 points clear of second-placed Lazio.

Not only did Napoli post the best offensive record last term, but they also achieved the best defensive record, underlining their strength at both ends of the pitch.

Lazio may have finished as runners-up to Napoli last season, but they have endured a disappointing start to the new campaign.

On the opening weekend, the Eagles conceded in the 85th and 87th minute to lose 2-1 against Lecce, who racked up 23 shots throughout the contest.

Despite registering 71% possession and 16 shots on home soil last weekend, Lazio suffered a 1-0 defeat to Genoa.

It goes without saying that Lazio will be desperate to open their 2023-24 account this weekend, but they couldn’t have dreamed of a tougher opponent.

Head-to-head: It is worth remembering that Lazio claimed a 1-0 victory over Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last season.

That said, the Eagles have only managed to win two of their previous eight meetings with Napoli across all competitions.

Team news: Napoli look set to be without Gianluca Gaetano for the foreseeable future as he continues to recover from injury.

As for Lazio, Brazilian midfielder Marcos Antonio remains sidelined with a muscle problem, while former Barcelona and Chelsea forward Pedro is also out injured.

While Napoli have made a flying start to the season, Lazio are yet to find their feet in 2023-24, meaning the Eagles will likely struggle on Saturday.

Forbet predicts that Napoli will extend their winning start to the Serie A season on home soil, scoring over 1.5 goals en route to victory.
