Club Brugge take on AGF in the Europa Conference League second qualifying round first leg this Thursday at the Jan Breydel Stadium with Ronny Delia's men aiming to get their 2023/24 campaign off to a positive start.

It was a terrible season for Brugge last time out, as they finished the lowest they have in the Belgian Pro League in over a decade by finishing fourth.

In total, the club won just 16 games of the 34 outings and collected 59 points.

Brugge also managed to secure 11 draws and lost seven times in their race for the top four, as the club also finished 13 points behind Antwerp in third with six fewer wins on the board.

The Belgian giants have also scored 61 goals and let in 36 in the past Belgian Pro League season.

Brugge managed to lose two of their preseason friendlies with the club losing to Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar, although they managed to secure wins over Beerschot in a 3-0 victory before defeating Go Ahead Eagles 2-1.

The Belgian Pro League season ended only six weeks ago, as the club secured only two wins in the final six games of the Championship round by defeating Union Saint-Gilloise 3-1.

This meant 18 wins in total from 40 games and a total of 71 goals scored and 48 conceded.

As for Aarhus Gymnastikforening, they have just started their Superliga campaign by defeating Vejle BK 1-0 on matchday one.

Tobias Bech was the goalscorer that day for AGF and they sit alongside four other clubs that won on matchday one in Denmark.

AGF finished third in the league last season by winning 14 games in the 32 matches in 2022/23 with nine losses and nine draws.

The club scored 42 goals and let in 31 too, but in reality, it was a solid season for them.

They would leave their preseason friendlies with a decent record, as they managed to defeat the likes of Malmo and Holstein Kiel a few months back, before defeating the likes of Horsens and Fredericia.

Nevertheless, they could struggle in this two-legged encounter with Brugge.

Brugge look likely to win this game as they aim to move on from a dreadful season in the Belgian Pro League. Forebet predicts a win for the Belgian giants and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
