France’s Ligue 1 will present a Wednesday night set of fixtures with all 20 teams in action. Monaco will face off with Lorient in a top-six clash, as both teams battle for a European place. Meanwhile, relegation-fighting Brest will attempt to end a two-game losing streak against Lille.
Ajaccio will face Reims for the first time since 2018. The home team is just outside the relegation zone ahead of the clash, with two points separating them from the bottom four. Meanwhile, Reims are sitting pretty in midtable with nine straight Ligue 1 games ending without defeat.
Stade de Reims go into matchday No 18 a dozen points off the top five. Reims will be happy with their performances this season and not battling the drop. The team took 12 points from the last 18 points on offer with eight goals for and four against.
Ajaccio picked up seven points from the last six games. They are coming off a 2-0 away defeat to Toulouse last time out in Ligue 1.
It is a relegation six-pointer between Auxerre and Toulouse on Wednesday. The home team are mired in a relegation fight, while Toulouse are trying to avoid falling into the bottom four.
Auxerre and Toulouse came up from Ligue 1 together. They have recent history against each other with Toulouse winning five of their last six games versus Auxerre.
Toulouse did the double over Auxerre in Ligue 2 last season. The Purple took just four points from the last six games, however. Auxerre equalled Toulouse’s mark with four points from their last six games. Auxerre are on a three-game losing streak in the division.
Brest will host Lilleas they seek a third straight win against Les Dogues at home. Last season, Brest picked up a 2-0 win over Lille at the Stade Francis Le Ble.
Lille are seventh in the standings ahead of their trip to Brest. They are unbeaten in four straight Ligue 1 games. Lille are just six points off the top three. Only three teams qualify for the Champions League in France’s Ligue 1.
Brest are 17th in the standings and two points off 16th-place Ajaccio. A win over Lille and Ajaccio loss to Reims could send Brest out of the relegation zone. Brest are on a two-game losing streak in the division.
Monaco edged Lorient in their last six head-to-head matches in all competitions with a record of 3W-2D-1L. Lorient are unbeaten in their last two games against Monaco, including a 1-0 win at home against Monaco last term.
Les Monegasques took 12 points from the last 18 points on offer in the league. They are on a two-game Ligue 1 winning streak.
Lorient picked up just five points from the last six games. After a strong start to the season, Lorient are slowly sliding down the table. They did defeat Angers 2-1 last time out.
