Welsh Premier League club The New Saints (TNS) will kick off this weekend with an unbeaten record.

TNS, the top side in Wales for the past few seasons, will seek a 17th straight game without a defeat.

Indeed, it has been another strong season for the Saints, who have a Welsh Premier League record of 14W-2D-0L.

Although the Saints league record is fantastic, they are only six points ahead of second-place Connah’s Quay Nomads.

The Welsh Premier League isn’t considered one of the top leagues in Europe, nor is it second or third, but it is enjoying a fine title fight this term. TNS are the frontrunners to win the title once more.

TNS are the Welsh Premier League title record holders, with 15 titles. Despite holding the record for the most titles, TNS didn’t win their first until 1999-2000.

The club’s first title was a long time coming, having been founded in 1959. Since claiming their first title at the turn of the century, the silverware has flooded into the club.

TNS have won two Welsh Premier League titles on the bounce and are good money to make it three in a row.

Manager Craig Harrison has used an attacking 4-3-3 formation, utilising a squad of players that have overpowered their opponents.

TNS are scoring goals for fun, with 56 tallied. However, Connor Quay Nomads are just behind them with 53.

No club in the Welsh top flight has conceded fewer goals than TNS. The Saints allowed just 12 goals in their 16 matches. Their 12 goals allowed are 11 fewer than Connor Quays Nomads.

Attacking midfielder Bryan Brobbel leads TNS in goals this season with 11.

The former Middlesbrough youth player found a home playing for TNS. He joined the club in February 2016 and continues to be a top player.

Centre-forward Brad Young has added nine goals for the club. A former Aston Villa youth player, the 20-year-old has been impressive leading the line for TNS.

But the Saints have been more this season than just Brobbel and Young.

Fifteen different players have scored this season in the Welsh Premier League for TNS. It is a fantastic state for Harrison’s league leaders.

In addition to flying high in the league, TNS are in the fourth round of the Welsh Cup, a trophy they have owned in recent campaigns.

TNS won the 2021-22 and 2022-23 Welsh Cups, completing a league and cup double in both seasons.

The Saints are once again playing fantastic football in Wales. Although Connor Quays Nomads are within touching distance, TNS’s 16-match unbeaten run in the league has them on course for another title.
