Wolfsburg are coming off a 1-0 win over Bochum in a relegation six-pointer. The Wolves claimed two wins from the last four matches, improving their chances of staying up this season. Still, just four points separate them from the bottom three.
Freiburg took four points from their last two matches in the league. They are five points off the top six and a possible European place. Defence has been Freiburg’s issue this season, as they have conceded 53 times.
The last two Bundesliga encounters between Mainz and Koln ended in draws. The reverse fixture saw neither team score a goal, as the match ended nil-nil.
Mainz are on the up and out of the relegation zone thanks to goal difference. They took 11 points from the last five games, keeping three clean sheets. Mainz scored 10 goals in their last three home matches.
Koln are 17th and nearly cut adrift in the relegation race. The Billy Goats’ best chance may be to finish 16th in the relegation place and play in the playoffs. Koln lost their last two matches in the Bundesliga.
Heidenheim are unbeaten in their last three matches versus Darmstadt. The last two fixtures between them ended in Heidenheim wins. The Reds won 3-2 earlier this season at home.
Darmstadt are the league’s last-placed team. They are 10 points adrift of safety and can be officially relegated this weekend with a defeat. Darmstadt did win last weekend, defeating Koln 2-0 in a relegation six-pointer.
Heidenheim are coming off a 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig. It ended a four-match unbeaten run. The Reds are 10th in the league and gearing up for another Bundesliga campaign. However, they are not mathematically safe from relegation yet.
