The Spanish Segunda Division is one of the most exciting to watch as teams compete to win promotion to the topflight in Spain.
With 22 teams in the league, it is a gruelling campaign and anything can happen. As we approach the final quarter of the 2023/24 season, SD Huesca find themselves in midtable but they have produced an incredible statistic in recent weeks.
Ahead of their meeting with Burgos on the 24th of March, which could prove crucial in the race for promotion, SD Huesca are on a run of 8 fixtures without defeat in the Segunda Division.

They have won only 3 of those 8 matches but SD Huesca are proving difficult to beat and the main reason for their recent success has been their defence.
Trends show only one team in the Segunda Division has conceded fewer goals than SD Huesca this season and that team is CD Leganes, who are top of the table.
SD Huesca have conceded just 22 goals in 31 league games, which is much superior to many of the teams in the promotion playoff places.
Espanyol, who are currently in third place have conceded 34 goals, which is the same number as SD Eibar, who are in fourth place.
Burgos, who currently occupy the final promotion playoff position have conceded 38 goals, which is 16 more than SD Huesca.
The recent form of SD Huesca defensively has been incredible and they have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 7 Segunda Division matches.
Not one team has managed to breakdown their defence in over 630 minutes of football, with Espanyol, CD Tenerife, and CD Eldense all above SD Huesca in the league table but unable to score against them.
It is remarkable that there has not been a deflected shot that has ended up in the back of the SD Huesca net.
Defending is an art but there is also some luck involved and there is no doubt SD Huesca have had some luck during their 7 game run without conceding a goal in the Segunda Division.
If we look back further through the fixtures, we can see SD Huesca have kept a clean sheet in 9 of their 11 most recent league matches.
They have conceded just 1 goal in their last 6 Segunda Division games on the road and have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 home games in the league.
Clearly there are some issues when it comes to attacking and SD Huesca are going to need to score more goals if they are to enter the promotion playoff picture.
However, they have created a solid base from which to perform and it will be interesting to follow their progress for the remainder of the 2023/24 Segunda Division season.
