Ange Postecoglou has agreed to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, with the former Celtic boss set to join the club on July 1. What do we know about the 57-year-old Australian?

Born in the Greek capital of Athens in 1965, Postecoglou immigrated to Australia by boat in 1970 following the Greek military coup, settling in Melbourne with his family.

After coming through the ranks at South Melbourne, Postecoglou enjoyed a successful playing career, winning two NSL Championships and one NSL Premiership while also representing the Australian national team five times.

In 1996, Postecoglou took his first coaching role when he became manager of South Melbourne, guiding the club to two NSL Championships, one NSL Premiership and one Oceania Club Championship in the space of two years.

Between 2000 and 2007, Postecoglou managed Australia U17 and Australia U20, leading both sides to three OFC Championship titles while making a name for himself on the international stage.

Following brief stints at Greek side Panachaiki and Melbourne outfit Whittlesea Zebras, Postecoglou led Brisbane Roar to two A-League Championships and one A-League Premiership between 2009 and 2012, before managing Melbourne Victory between 2012 and 2013.

The Greek-born Aussie then enjoyed four years as manager of the Socceroos, guiding the national team to AFC Asian Cup glory in 2015.

Three years later, he became the manager of Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos.

It was in Japan where Postecoglou started to attract worldwide recognition, leading Yokohama F. Marinos to the 2019 J1 League title.

He won 79 of his 161 games in Japan, notching a win rate of 49.07%.

In June 2021, Postecoglou was appointed as the manager of Scottish giants Celtic. After doing the Premiership and League Cup double in 2021-22, he guided the Bhoys to a famous domestic treble in 2022-23.

Celtic lost just three of their 38 league games last season, scoring a whopping 114 goals while conceding just 34. Having won 83 of his 113 matches in charge at Parkhead, Postecoglou finished his Celtic career with a mammoth win rate of 73.45%.

In total, Postecoglou has overseen 681 games throughout his international and club managerial career. With 366 victories to his name, he boasts a career win rate of 53.74%.

Postecoglou typically favours a 4-3-3 formation, using attacking full-backs and intelligent forwards to generate a fast style of play. Tottenham already have plenty of gifted players, but the new boss will be eager to bring in his own recruits.

And, of course, Postecoglou will do everything in his power to keep Harry Kane at the club.

The Australian has proved that he is ready to manage at the highest level, and keeping Kane will only enhance his chances of success.
