It’s time to discuss all the major talking points from of the wildest World Cup finals of all time.

Messi Lifts the Trophy Despite Mbappe Hat-Trick

Two days, before the World cup start, Forebet post Top 4 condenters to win the trophy by its mathematical algorithm. You can check the article here.

When Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 23 minutes, Argentina were in pole position to lift the trophy. And when Angel Di Maria doubled Argentina’s lead before half time, there appeared to be no way back for France.

To say that Argentina dominated the first half would be an understatement. Lionel Scaloni’s side commanded proceedings throughout the opening 45 minutes, while Les Blues struggled to get a foothold in the contest.

The Argentines dominated much of the second half, too. But when Mbappe converted a penalty on 80 minutes, the defending champions finally sprung into life.

One minute after the penalty, Mbappe leveled the game in dramatic style – exchanging a one-two with Marcus Thuram before scoring an excellent volley from the edge of the penalty area.

Following a goalless first half of extra time, Messi thought he’d scored the winner on 108 minutes. However, Mbappe had other ideas. The 23-year-old scored another penalty on 118 minutes to send the final to a shootout.

Mbappe scored France’s first penalty, while Messi converted Argentina’s first. Kingsley Coman stepped up to take France’s second spot kick, but his effort was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Paulo Dybala gave Argentina a 2-1 lead, before Aurelien Tchouameni put his penalty wide. Leandro Paredes and Randal Kolo Muani both converted, leaving Gonzalo Montiel to score the winning penalty for Argentina.

Argentina have now won three World Cup titles, following triumphs in 1978 and 1986. As for France, they have now won two and lost two – reaching four of the past seven finals.

The phenomenal final at Lusail Stadium was a fitting way to end the 2022 World Cup. Despite all the off-field issues surrounding the tournament, the drama on the pitch will go down in history.
