Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea won 2-1 at relegation-threatened Norwich on Tuesday night. The Blues secured a win courtesy of goals from Kenedy and Diego Costa secured the victory and moved Guus Hiddink’s side up to eighth in the table.
Their recover was inevitable, especially after the arrival of Guus Hiddink as boss, who remains unbeaten in the Premier League in his second stint as Blues. The revival seems to have come too late for the Blues to mount a challenge for the title or the Champions League spots.
Hiddink’s side are now eight points off the Champions League places, but have played two more games than fourth-place Manchester City, who face a difficult clash with inconsistent Liverpool on Wednesday night.
However the Blues are now just five points off fifth-place Manchester United. United host Watford at Old Trafford and are favourites to record another home win.
Chelsea are still in the Champions League and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, so Hiddink’s side season is very still alive. Winning the FA Cup would bring Europa League next season, which may not offer the sane financial rewards as the Champions League, but it is a competition still well worth winning.
Chelsea’s season has definitely taken a turn for the better in the past month or so. Qualifying for European qualification via the Premier League this season would not be the worst thing considering the fact that the Blues were languishing near the bottom of the table just a few weeks ago.
