The Thomas Tuchel revolution continued for Chelsea on Monday night, as the Blues recorded a comfortable 2-0 home win over rivals for the top-four spots Everton.

The win extended Chelsea’s lead over the Merseyside blues to four points, although Carlo Ancelotti’s team does have a game in hand.

Chelsea have just been growing stronger with every game under their highly-rated German head coach. The former PSG boss is now unbeaten in his first 11 games with the Blues.

The victory over Everton and their recent form have been significant, as Chelsea have made big strides towards the Champions League spots, having struggled for any sort of form towards the end of Frank Lampard’s tenure as boss.

However, it would be unfair to compare Lampard and Tuchel, as the latter has far more managerial experience at the top level of the game. He has won silverware and managed big clubs.

Lampard’s only previous managerial experience before his move to Stamford Bridge was a season in the Championship, helping Derby County to the play-offs. This season Lampard appeared to be out of his depth.

Tuchel’s managerial style and experience were always going to bring around an improvement in results. With the resources available to the German, they were not going to be floundering in midtable for long.

The strength-in-depth within the Blues squad was illustrated by the fact Tuchel made five changes to his starting line-up for the Everton game, yet the team was not significantly weaker. This could not be said of Ancelotti’s injury-hit squad, which is currently lacking depth.

Thomas Tuchel is a demanding coach, who expects his players to work hard and the Blues did just that against Everton and in the end they also had too much quality for the visitors. Chelsea will now be looking upwards and hoping that they can make up some ground on the teams above them.

There was never any doubt that Thomas Tuchel would have a big effect at Stamford Bridge and there could be exciting times ahead for the Blues under the former Dortmund head coach.
