This summer is one of major change at Chelsea. The Blues saw boss Maurizio Sarri depart to Juventus, while long-term talisman Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid.
The Blues are accustomed to losing bosses, as they have had a pretty big turnover of bosses in their search for success in recent years. The loss of Hazard and their inability to sign players due to a transfer ban makes it doubly difficult for the Blues.
The Belgian international was quite simply one of the best players in the Premier League. He dragged the Blues to victory on too many occasions to mention. Hazard is irreplaceable.
Sarri, on the other hand, is not irreplaceable, in the opinion of Blues fans anyway. The Italian led the team from south west London to third -place and the Europa League. However, the football the team played at times was not to the supporter's tastes it seems.
The Italian’s likely replacement is Derby boss and Blues legend Frank Lampard, whose representatives have been in talks with the club in the last few days. The former England international would likely bring another former Blues player, Jody Morris with him as his assistant.
View this post on Instagram I would like to say a special thank you to Mel Morris, players, staff and everyone who is associated with Derby County Football Club. It has been a fantastic experience for me and I feel privileged to have managed such a prestigious club. Most of all, I want to thank the fans who supported me and the team from the day I arrived in the City. I wish everyone the best of luck going forward. 🐑 A post shared by Frank Lampard (@franklampard) on Jul 4, 2019 at 1:02am PDT

Lampard’s return just adds to the intrigue of the campaign. The 41-year-old has experienced just one campaign in management with the Rams, who he helped to the Championship play-off final.
The rookie boss will, of course, be unable to add to his playing options this summer, which may actually help him established himself in the Chelsea hot seat.
The Blues are certainly not lacking in players. Players like Kurt Zouma and Tammy Abraham will return to Stamford Bridge this summer after loan spells hoping to make a big impact.
The likes of youngsters Reece James and Mason Mount could also feature in the first-team in the new campaign after promising campaigns out on loan last season in the Championship.
Despite owner Roman Abramovich being trigger happy with coaches, there is a feeling that the circumstances will mean that Lampard will be given more leeway than other bosses.

If Lampard can keep the Blues in the top-four next season then he will have done a good job. Only time will tell if his appointment will be the right one. One thing is for sure, next season at Chelsea will certainly not be boring.
