Jose Mourinho could face a tough decision on Saturday

Manchester United face Premier League champions Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday and Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho could face a selection headache.

His toughest decision may involve captain Wayne Rooney, who has been out of form in recent weeks and found himself playing in wide positions, rather than his more natural roles as a number ten or central striker.

Mourinho like so many bosses before him have tried to fit Rooney into the team because he does possess quality, but his inclusion in the team seems unwarranted.

The fact that youngster Marcus Rashford scored again from the substitutes bench in the Red Devils 3-1 win at Northampton in the EFL Cup suggests that Mourinho may have to between playing one or the other against the Foxes.

Rashford has made an impact a number of times of the bench and the calls for the 18-year-old to start against the champions have only got louder since his performance against Northampton.

The England international adds pace, trickery and fearlessness to the United attack, three attributes that Rooney can no longer offer the Red Devils.

Rooney almost been untouchable at Manchester United, but Mourinho has developed a reputation for being ruthless with underperforming players down the years. It seems unlikely that Mourinho is going to drop his captain, but you just never know with the Portuguese boss.

The more likely scenario is that Rooney will start the game and Rashford may start on either flank of the attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front.

The pressure on Mourinho has lifted slightly because of the win at Northampton, which ended a three-game losing streak in all competitions.

However, a poor result against the Foxes is likely to up the ante once again, as the Portuguese boss attempts to restore United back to the top of the English football tree.
