Leicester has momentum heading into Chelsea clash

Premier League champions Leicester City host Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night in the League Cup.

The two teams head into the third round clash in very different moods. Leicester recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Burnley at home on Saturday, while Chelsea lost their unbeaten record under Antonio Conte losing 2-1 at home against Liverpool.

Leicester started the campaign off in highly unconvincing style, but a 3-0 win against Club Brugge and the win over Burnley will have lifted everybody’s spirits at the club. The inconsistent start to the campaign had critics questioning just how the Foxes were going to do this season in the top-flight.

The latest wins have allayed any fears that the Midlands side was in for a difficult season. A win against Chelsea would certainly further allay those early worries for the Foxes fans.

Chelsea made a bright start to their Premier League campaign with three wins, but have since drawn at Swansea and now lost against Liverpool. Boss Antonio Conte is a winner and the defeat against the Reds will have infuriated the Italian.

Conte was accustomed to winning games and trophies at Juventus and to a lesser extent, he was successful with the Italian national team. He will be determined to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

However, how he will approach the League Cup remains to be seen. It will be very low on the Blues priority list for the campaign, but it is not like Chelsea has European games to worry about, so the Italian may resist the temptation for rotation and field a strong team.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri may take the opportunity to rotate his squad and look at some of his squad options, but at the moment the Foxes look to be the team more likely to win this clash and be in the fourth round.
