Juventus Serie A dominance set to continue

Juventus Serie A dominance set to continue

Juventus have dominated the Italian game in recent years, winning Serie A in five consecutive campaigns. The £75.3million signing of Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli will only strengthen Juve’s foothold on Italian football.

Not only has Higuain’s signing strengthened Juventus’ attacking options, but it has also weakened one of their main title rivals. The Argentinian scored 35 times in Serie A last season, breaking an Italian scoring record in the process.

The loss of Higuain is massive to Napoli’s chances of challenging the Bianconeri for the Scudetto next season. He was obviously their main attacking threat. The Azzurri could even lose highly-rated centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who is the subject of interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Everton.

Juventus have already also weakened another rival Roma by signing playmaker Miralem Pjanic this summer. The summer signings of Marko Pjaca, Mehdi Benatia and Mario Lemina will also make Juve’s squad very strong for the new campaign. It seems that Max Allegri’s side will be very difficult to stop next season.

The Old Lady could be about to lose highly-rated French central midfielder Paul Pogba to Manchester United, but that transfer saga seems to be rumbling on. The France international may yet stay in Turin for another season.

Juventus have been criticised for seemingly overpaying for Higuain, but he will no doubt be prolific for the Bianconeri in the new campaign. The Juventus’ other transfer business has been pretty impressive too.

Allegri’s side will be strong again next season, both at home and abroad as the Bianconeri attempt to make their mark next once again in the Champions League.
