5 reasons why Harry Kane can still win the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot

There is no denying that Harry Kane has yet to find his feet this season. Following a chaotic summer both on and off the pitch, the Tottenham star has struggled to get going in 2021/22.

Although Kane has scored six goals in ten appearances across all competitions, he has failed to open his Premier League account – despite having played six top-flight games.

Still, there are plenty of reasons why he can still get his hands – or feet – on a record-equaling fourth Golden Boot this term.

    • Form is temporary, class is permanent

It is pretty obvious that Kane is struggling for form at the moment. That said, he has been here before and pulled through every single time.

At the end of the day, the 28-year-old is a world-class striker. Although he isn’t in the form of his life right now, it won’t take him long to rediscover his touch.

    • He already has three Golden Boots to his name

Only one man – Thierry Henry – has won more Golden Boots than Kane. In fact, the Tottenham striker has finished as the Premier League’s top scorer on no fewer than three occasions.

After clinching back-to-back Golden Boots in 2015/16 and 2016/17, he won the award again last term – netting 23 goals in 35 matches. Needless to say, he knows what it takes to do it again.

    • He often starts the season slowly

Over the years, Kane has gained a reputation as a slow starter. If you look at previous seasons, he has always struggled for goals initially before kicking on and making up for lost time.

During his first Golden Boot-winning season, he failed to find the net in his first six games before ending up with 25 goals – proving he can start slowly and make up ground later in the campaign.

    • His rivals are catchable

Mohamed Salah and Jamie Vardy currently lead the scoring charts, having both bagged six goals in seven matches. Michail Antonio has five goals to his name, with a quartet of players on four.

Although Salah and Vardy have hit the ground running in 2021/22, they aren’t exactly out of reach. If Kane goes on a scoring streak after the international break, he could catch the early frontrunners.

    • Spurs should improve under Nuno

Tottenham won each of their opening three league games under their new head coach before suffering three straight defeats. However, they returned to winning ways last time out.

Nuno Espirito Santo is still settling in at Spurs and will need more time to learn about his squad. When he does, though, Kane will almost certainly score more goals.
