Premier League title-chasing Tottenham face a tricky trip to Stoke on Monday night. By the time Spurs kick-off they could be ten points behind league leaders Leicester, who host free-scoring West Ham at the King Power Stadium in one of Sunday’s early kick-offs.
Although the Foxes winning beating West Ham is not a foregone conclusion, a ten point gap would be a major one with so few games left to play.
In truth both teams have difficult fixtures, as Stoke’s Britannia Stadium is usually a very difficult ground to visit for opposition teams. If Tottenham are to have any chance of bridging the gap to Leicester then they have to win all their games, including in the Potteries.
Tottenham have always had a reputation for being a team that produced decent football, but did not quite produce when it mattered. This season that reputation has been shed to a certain extent. However they have not had the sort of expectations on their shoulders that they currently have now.
Even if Mauricio Pochettino’s team do not win the title, the side from north London have experienced a very respectable campaign in the Premier League. It would be difficult for anybody to criticise their campaign or performances.
For Spurs even making the top four this season is a major achievement, let alone challenging for the Premier League title. The odds are against Tottenham catching in the title race this season, but while it is still mathematically possible everybody connected with the north London club with still have belief that the title is still very possible.
