The transfer market has been relatively quiet amongst the top Premier League teams.
Only last season’s runners-up Manchester United have spent any big sum of money with the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

However, that could all change at the Red Devils city-rivals Manchester City in the near future, as they pursue a deal to sign Aston Villa and England playmaker Jack Grealish. A fee of around £75m has been mooted in some of Britain’s news outlets.
The move seems like it would be a good one for the player and City, although Villa would lose their most talented player and captain. Grealish last year finally produced consistency to go with his flair and obvious quality.
Despite a spell on the sidelines through injury, Grealish scored six goals and produced ten assists in 26 top-flight appearances.
Those stats belie his influence in the Villa team. With better players around him, no doubt he could reach even greater heights in the near future. Reportedly the 25-year-old fancies the move to Manchester.
However, Villa are hoping to extend his contract. The attacking midfielder may have a big dilemma ahead of him.
Grealish knows a switch to the Citizens will lead to working with Pep Guardiola and winning trophies. It seems like a no-brainer looking in from the outside. It may not be so simple for the boyhood Villa fan, though.
Working alongside world-class players and under a world-class head coach is only going to improve Grealish’s game. Playing for the Citizens would also raise his profile, which may also make it easier for the playmaker to get into the England team on a more regular basis.
On paper, Grealish and City seem like the perfect match.
The next couple of weeks will determine whether the talented player will be turning out for his hometown team next season or the reigning Premier League champions.
