Who has scored the most Premier League goals since the start of the 2016/17 season?

The Premier League is home to many of the world’s top forwards. But which player has scored the most goals in England’s top division since the start of the 2016/17 campaign?

With the current break in play, it feels like the ideal time to look back at the Premier League’s top goalscorers in recent years.

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur (87 goals – 9821 minutes)

Tottenham’s talisman certainly knows where the back of the net is. Harry Kane has consistently banged in goals for Spurs since making his debut for the club back in 2011, and he is now regarded as one of the best natural finishers in world football.

Kane won back-to-back Golden Boot awards in 2015/16 and 2016/17, while finishing as Tottenham’s top scorer in each of the past five seasons. After establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s deadliest marksmen, is it time for Kane to join an elite club in order to win some silverware?

Sergio Aguero – Manchester City (78 goals – 8252 minutes)

It’s safe to say that Sergio Aguero must now be classed as a Manchester City legend. Despite not claiming the Golden Boot since 2014/15, the lethal Argentine has finished as Man City’s top scorer for eight years running.

Aguero has fired the Cityzens to four Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad, and he shone throughout last season’s remarkable domestic treble-winning campaign. It feels like Aguero has been around for age now. But at 31, he’s still got plenty in the tank.

    Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (70 goals – 8423 minutes)

When Mohamed Salah broke the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season (32), many believed he was merely a one-season wonder. However, Salah proved his doubters wrong by securing consecutive Golden Boot awards last season, and he’s already notched up 16 goals in 26 top-flight appearances this term.

What makes the “The Egyptian King’s” record even more outstanding is the fact that he only joined Liverpool at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, meaning he’s had one less season in England’s top tier than all the other players on this list.

Jamie Vardy – Leicester City (70 goals – 11015 minutes)

Jamie Vardy has clearly played the most minutes of all five forwards featured here, but his goalscoring record cannot be overlooked. The veteran striker seems to be getting better with age, and he currently leads the race for this season’s Golden Boot.

Leicester may have won the Premier League title back in 2015/16, but the Foxes haven’t finished higher than 9th since then. Considering that Leicester haven’t made an impact on the division since their shock triumph, Vardy must be given huge credit for his efforts.

    Sadio Mane – Liverpool (59 goals – 9613 minutes)

Sadio Mane shared the Golden Boot with teammate Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last term, but the speedy Senegalese forward has taken his game to another level this season.

Of course, he hasn’t quite been able to match Salah’s numbers over the past few years. But Mane has arguably become Liverpool’s main man over the course of the current campaign, and if he remains at Anfield for a few more seasons, there’s no reason why he can’t eclipse Salah’s achievements.
